The Bean Gallery
Okok. So I used to nix this place because the wifi made me apoplectic. My gut response to the place whenever people mentioned it was: I f***ing hate that place. What’s the point of a coffee shop + paying for coffee if you can’t wifi?
But, I decided to give this place a try again. And again. And again. And you know what? The wifi isn’t always bad. You just gotta go at the right time when the place isn’t swarming with people — after 6pm. That’s when I’m not apoplectic about the wifi, in fact, it’s quite reliable. It’s like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde wifi.
The Bean Gallery is now my go-to after clinic and a place to stave off the nap or early bedtime. It’s open until midnight and there is an outdoor space, too! If you’re going to sit outside, come with long pants and/or mosquito repellant.
The Bean Gallery is a short walk from City Park, Lafitte Greenway, and Blue Oak BBQ.
But really, it’s quite pleasant to sit outside and work after-hours — it’s scenic. Bean Gallery is right next to the streetcars — the routine sound of the streetcar zipping by reminds me I am, in fact, a NOLA resident. A very charming place to be.
